Jehovah's Witness Mentos Commercial Parody
by WatchtowerReviewz ini made this quick little parody to showcase how simple and ridiculous the jw "cure all" solution is to all of life's problems.
.
pray, read watchtower, and recruit more members = solution.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6l4ig_zu4fi&feature=youtu.be.

I'm getting baptized
by BlackWolf ini know i've started similar topics before but this time i'm serious.
my parents have been constantly pressuring me and after yesterday's watchtower study they asked me if i was going to be baptized this summer... and i said yes.
i probably should have thought about it more before making a final decision, but they're pretty much forcing me to do it anyway.

So sad and heartbreaking that JW youth are forced into these decisions.
I feel for you BW,...your decision, your situation, your loneliness. I was15 when I made (forced) the decision to get baptized. At 17 I left it all. All my friends and family shunned me. 24 years later I am still shunned by my mother and siblings.
In hindsight, I would not do it. A few teenage years of hardship are worth it. If you don't get baptized, years down the line, when you have a family, your parents may be able to visit and actually sit down and have a meal with you. Get baptized and leave and you get nothing.

NEW PEW Research data on Jehovah's Witnesses just released
by Balaamsass2 ini was expecting people who "identified" as jws to follow watchtower beliefs more closely than these pollsters report.. .

If this is accurate, the stat below is the most poignant, startling, and interesting to me.
"Jehovah’s Witnesses have a low retention rate relative to other U.S. religious groups. Among all U.S. adults who were raised as Jehovah’s Witnesses, two-thirds (66%) no longer identify with the group. By contrast, about two-thirds of those who were raised as evangelical Protestants (65%) and Mormons (64%) still say they are members of those respective groups.
On the flip side, about two-thirds (65%) of current adult Jehovah’s Witnesses are converts – like Prince, they were raised in another faith."
What a turnover rate!? Once again, if correct, this makes a lot of sense. This tells me that their witness campaigns work if 65% of members are converts, but unfortunately, for leadership, it's all a wash because they can't keep members around as 66% of born-ins leave. It definitely makes sense regarding their stagnant growth.

Indianapolis location is still up for sale. Asking price 2.9M. It has been up for sale for quite some time now. I'm actually surprised that it hasn't sold. This location is prime real estate and like many cities it has been boom times for downtown Indy real estate as far as hip new downtown condos/apartments are concerned. Otherwise, it would make for a great concert hall.

Are you ready for armageddon?
by atomant injust imagine the panic.disbelief.oh my god they were right.then you pee in your pants.what will l do?the plea for forgiveness.please let me through.l promise l''ll change.l didn;t mean what l said on that jw.com site.l was jokin.then you wake up it was only a dream.disbelief turns to relief.
but it could happen..

Okay then, say the Biblical Armageddon were to come. That, still, in no way proves the JW's "were right". Most, if not all, Christian sects believe in the the scriptures regarding armageddon. Many of them have their own interpretations of how it will all go down. Many do not fixate on it and constantly preach that it's right around the corner like the WTS. In fact, many of them take to heart the words "no one knows the day or the hour" and leave it at that.
Another interesting question might be, if armageddon were to happen, which Christian sects interpretation, if any, would be correct? And if the JW's are wrong and they are actually on the wrong side of God's teachings, would they then be destroyed at armageddon?

I dont know how i can leave my family!
by BlackWolf inmy mom and i were talking today about how next summer i will be 18 and she said that just thinking about it might make her cry.
that made me think about how much more it would hurt her if i quit being a jw.
i really do love my parents, i know they are just being cruelly manipulated by a cult and that they really think they are doing what is best for me.

Sorry, no advice, but I feel your pain. I left at 17 and had to da at 20. It's not easy. It's terribly difficult, but you can't put a price on standing up for what is right. The freedom is refreshing. 23 years later now and I have my own family and real friends and life is good. However, I have this nagging dark side to my life where my own blood shuns me. It hurts,...and it's absolutely ridiculous that we even have to make such decisions. Its a travesty that teenagers have to decide whether or not to lose family just because of a difference in belief. Conditional love is not real love. -

A question for mothers...
by Bob Loblaw ina human being, your child, was conceived, grew in you, and on one special day you delivered your child into this world.
a truly miraculous thing in and of itself.. when you were a jw, although forbidden to celebrate evil birthdays (sarcasm), did your heart ever ache contrary to watchtower teaching and want to shower your child with love and thankfulness?
i would think that if a religion were to believe in god, then their doctrine should have god somehow responsible for the act of procreation, birth, love, etc.

I would think that if a religion were to believe in God, then their doctrine should have God somehow responsible for the act of procreation, birth, love, etc. I would think that God should be happy about your day of birth and in some form or another responsible for it. If what God has deemed to be good, then why deem the celebration of the reoccurrence of that date to equate evil? A mother and father automatically love and celebrate a child being born, so what is so demonic about remembering that day year after year and being so thankful for your child? Why demonize a word that embody's the love of God? Birthday=Love
As a father, celebrating my children's birthdays is all about love. I love my kids so much and I will never forget the day they were born. On that day you can bet that I'm going to kiss them and hug them and tell them about their birth and give them gifts and have fun.
In contrast, my mother, still in, has not acknowledged the day I was born in decades or ever for that matter. Not a text, not a call, nothing. As thick as the JW mind and thought control is, do mothers still in yearn to give their child love and attention on that day even though the Watchtower says not to?
Anyways, on a side note, I think a persons Birthday is a very special thing and for all those ex JW's out there who don't get Birthday wishes from loved ones, I feel your pain, you are far from alone, and whether today is your Birthday or not, Happy Birthday!

Thanks. Interesting read.
"Everything indicates that Russellism had its day. The money which Russell accumulated will serve to keep the sect alive for a little longer, but it will not be many years before it will be as dead as the 999 other religious fads that served to delude simple minded people for a little while."
-Dang!, I wish you were right newspaper journalist.

To summarize:
...and let us reiterate, obedience to the WT WILL truly make you happy. There is so much joy in serving Jehovah (a.k.a. doing all the works the WT requires to remain in "good standing"). If you would just realize that nothing else can make you happy, so please stop doing that thing that you are passionate about, that thing that contributes to your individuality, that thing that actually makes you happy, and do as WE say. WE promise you will be happy. Look, "the friends" are doing it, and look at them, they are sooo happy!
